Beijing 2008 Paralympics Medal Table

China topped the Beijing 2008 Paralympics Medal Table by some distance winning 211 medals including a whopping 89 golds.

Great Britain was second, following on from the country's good medal performance at the Beijing Olympics and the USA was third.

5. Anita Görbicz (born May 13, 1983 in Veszprém) is a Hungarian team handball player. She was voted World Handball Player of the Year 2005[1] by the International Handball Federation. At the 2003 World Women's Handball Championship Görbicz played in the final with the Hungarian team, while in 2005 she won bronze with her team. At the 2007 Championship she was selected to the All Star Team

4. Blanka Vlašić (born November 8, 1983 in Split) is a Croatian high jumper and current world champion. Her personal best jump of 2.07m (also a national record) was set on August 7, 2007. Only two other women (one indoor and one outdoor) have jumped higher than this. She jumped over 2 metre in 49 competitions, which ranks her third, behind Kajsa Bergqvist (52) and Stefka Kostadinova (197). She is known for striking a pose after she clears a height; she first did this in the IAAF World Championships in Osaka 2007. She is six feet and four inches (1.93 m) tall, taller than most male high jumpers.

Jennie Lynn Finch (born September 3, 1980), or occasionally using her husband's name, Daigle, is an American softball player who pitched for the USA softball team that won the gold medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics, and is also pitching for USA softball in the 2008 Summer Olympics. Although she is listed on the roster as a pitcher, Finch sometimes plays first base. She is widely regarded as the most famous softball player of all time

2. Leryn Franco (born 1 March 1982 in Asunción) is a Paraguayan athlete who specializes in the javelin throw. Her personal best throw is 55.38 metres, achieved in May 2007 in Fortaleza. Franco again competed for Paraguay at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, shotting over 10 meters short of her personal record, finishing 51st overall. She did not advance to the finals. In 2006 she was runner-up Miss Paraguay. She participated at the Miss Bikini Universe pageant and also has her own calendar which was shot in 2007 by Martin Crespo

1. Amanda Ray Beard
(born October 29, 1981 in Newport Beach, California), is an Olympic-level swimmer and model from the United States of America. Beard participated in the 1996 Summer Olympics, 2000 Summer Olympics, 2004 Summer Olympics, and 2008 Summer Olympics, capturing a total of seven medals, the most recent in the 2004 games. She held the world number one ranking of 200 meter breaststrokers in 2003. In U.S. competition, Beard won three 200 meter breaststroke, three 100 meter breaststroke, and two 200 meter individual medley US National titles.
